SOPWELL HOUSE HOTEL, St Albans – A Smart Stay in the City

Sopwell House offers 120 bedrooms and suites, each individually laid out in the original Georgian manor and more modern wings. The Mews Suites include private gardens with hot tubs, while select suites provide exclusive access to The Club at Cottonmill. Room categories such as Plush Rooms and Chic Rooms vary in size and layout, so the room received at check-in may differ from the online image.

The hotel operates two on-site restaurants: The Brasserie, serving British classics with locally sourced ingredients for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and Omboo, a sharing-style menu inspired by Asian spice routes. Light meals and hot drinks are available in the Conservatory Bar, while the Octagon Bar serves cocktails into the night. An award-winning afternoon tea is served daily, and room service breakfast is available for a £5 charge.

Overnight guests receive complimentary access to the Cottonmill Spa, which includes a 14-metre indoor pool, two vitality pools, a steam room, and a sauna. The Club at Cottonmill, a premium spa area with additional thermal experiences and outdoor hot tubs, is available at an extra cost of £120 per person. On-site spa treatments include massages, facials, and body scrubs, and facilities also include a gym, fitness studio, and yoga classes.

The hotel is set within 12 acres of landscaped gardens with sun terraces, a picnic area, and outdoor furniture. Guests can use the golf course, and electric vehicle charging stations are available in the free on-site parking. Nearby attractions include Hatfield House, Whipsnade Wild Animal Park, and Knebworth House and Gardens of the Rose.

Sopwell House provides 19 flexible function suites for corporate meetings, weddings, and celebrations. The hotel offers meeting and banquet facilities, as well as business services such as fax and photocopying.
